Hello. It’s a been a long, heavy year, and most of us are struggling at some level, many of us are moving through deep despair and loss. We have resided in survival mode where our focus is on our basic needs, such as food, shelter, water. We have likely lost track of how we are doing mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
Let’s check in with ourselves. Shift in your chair to get comfortable. Place your feet flat on the floor. Take a deep breath in. Imagine your stomach filling with air, instead of your chest. Most of us tend to be chest breathers. To get a full, deep breath, focus on your belly rising as you breath in. Try this practice for 5 deep breaths.

- Inhale to 1… 2… 3…
- Hold your breath for 1… 2… 3…
- Exhale for 1… 2… 3…
After you have relaxed into your breathing, reflect on what you are feeling. Identify up to 3 states that are prominent for you. Are you sad? Tired? Hungry? Notice the emotions that rise and possibly your desire to shut them down. Allow them to exist.

Ponder where you have been and imagine what you would like for yourself. Are you aligned with your values? Is life playing out the way you desire? If no, what is one small change you can incorporate this week? We often think it takes big steps for change; however, little steps in the right direction get us on the best path.
Imagine a better life, then take the steps to get you there. The world may feel isolating and lonely, just know we are in this together. Let me know if you need a little extra support to get you through. Check out information about counseling here. Take good care…
